Jim began his pottery career 35 years ago in preparation for his eventual retirement as an engineer. He has developed his unique style, studied the works of other potters over the years and has studied pottery techniques at East Carolina University and Craven Community College. He chose to retire in New Bern and is active in the arts community. His specialty is “high fire” stoneware crafted as functional ware. His pieces have a speckled “old world” texture and feature a unique hand-scribed decorative striping. All of his work is dishwasher, oven, and microwave safe.
